This promotional video for the music education program at Gettysburg College was created to showcase how I use the gamelan as one of many tools for challenging and expanding what it means to learn and teach music in the United States. Music education majors in our program not only learn and can play gamelan in our college ensemble, but they also join me in artist-in-residency programs in the schools and universities in our region.
These experiences often open students' eyes to the vast possibilities of how one can music. Additionally they get to experience first-hand all of the coordination of learning, teaching, and assessing that go into bringing an artist-in-residency program to a school. |
